See you in 2012!

$3,000 Donation to Crispus Attucks Early Learning Center

We are extremely proud to share with you that the York White Rose Run has presented our largest donation in recent history to the Crispus Attucks Early Learning Center! This was made possible by an extremely successful 2011 event and the generosity of our Sponsors.

Another Terrific Success In 2011!

A tremendous thank you to all of our runners and volunteers for participating. An equally tremendous thank you goes out to all of our sponsors, without whom this event would not be possible. In total there were 363 finishers, the largest turnout for the White Rose Run since 1996!

Multiple Competitive Races!

Matthew Grey, 23, of Lancaster, a graduate of Kennard-Dale HS, was the first local male winner since 1983 (Greg Cauller). Matthew had an easy 43 second victory, winning in 26:10. He will be running the New York City Marathon in early November.

The women’s division presented a very competitive race. Darcy McDonald, who was 2nd last year, was the overall winner in 28:55, with only three men finishing ahead of her. Aimee Taylor, running her high mileage training week in preparation for the Richmond Marathon, was 2nd in 29:15. Mary Hamilton, 29:23, and Sayard Tanis, 29:35, finished directly behind Taylor. It is unusual to have the first three male finishers followed immediately by the first four female finishers.

Master winners were Tad Davis, 45, of Morgantown, WV in 29:47 and Cathy Butler, 40, of York, PA in 33:28.

Team Will Run For Beer was the victor of the first ever York White Rose Run Team Challenge. They took home a pretty sweet trophy, upon which their team name will be engraved to mark their place in history. See the team results for more team finishers.

I’ve only ran three races so far in my short running career, but this was by far the most organized and most enjoyable. I’ll continue to run the White Rose Run each and every year. Thanks for your hard work Patrick!
    A few of the pros:
-The course was perfect and the city police did a great job in blocking traffic.
    - The bagpiper and drummers added a really cool touch to the race!
    -Shirts were very nice quality
-Communication through the website and email was exceptional
    -Award ceremony was enjoyable
-Great refreshments and very nice people working the refreshment area. One of the ladies actually watched over some of my personal items until after the race. :)
-I couldn’t believe how fast the results and pictures were posted. Great Job!
    - Excellent Website!
    - I’m already counting down to next year.
    - Food at the White Rose was very good

No cons from me. This will be one of my annual races! :)

As a first time White Rose Runner, I was a little disappointed with the course security. I have run larger races and felt more safe than I did on this course. I was PROUDLY one of the last people to finish and it made me feel forgotten that the police officers on the course as well as volunteers were MIA between miles 2-4. There were times when there was not another soul on the course but me and my running partner and we felt a little concerned at times that we were even going the right way.

I would love it run this race again next year, but I HIGHLY suggest more volunteers to help and cheer people on the residential parts of the course.

Overall, the race was a great experience. However, as a “last of the pack” participant, I have to agree with Gail about lack of direction on the downtown stretch. No one was managing the street crossings when we went by. I also didn’t notice the arrows on the pavement until closer to the park.

Kudos on getting the results and photos posted quickly. That’s a definite plus!

I don’t drink, so the missing free beer wasn’t an issue, and the FREE appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks more than made up for it. If you schedule more waitstaff with the post-race influx in mind next year, you’ll have a winner.

Many thanks to all of the volunteers! The race was well organized, and so much fun. I would have liked water a bit sooner, but no biggie really. All in all it was a blast & I appreciate all of the hard work that went in to pulling this off.
